K.P.D. Asking for Assistance in Locating Missing/Endangered Youth

The Kingsport Police Department is asking for assistance in locating a missing, possibly endangered, youth.‚  When last in contact with his family, he was emotionally distraught, so there is significant concern for his general welfare.

Matthew Austin Burton (a.k.a. Matthew Melowski), 17 years of age, was last seen on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at approximately 2:00 AM when he left his home, located in the Highland Area of Kingsport.‚  Matthew left on his flat black Next brand mountain style bicycle.‚  He was carrying his school backpack, black in color, which contained several clothing items, canned bard, and a navigational compass.‚  He could possibly be frequenting local hiking and biking trails.

Matthew is a white male, 5 feet, 8 inches in height, weighing approximately 130 pounds.‚  He has blue eyes and brown hair.‚  He has long bangs in the front combed to the side; however, the rest of his hair is buzz-cut short.‚  When he left home, he was wearing a dark red and black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, red Adidas athletic shoes, and a black knit watch cap.
