Eastman Chemical manager joins City of Kingsport staff as human resource director

KINGSPORT George DeCroes, currently a community relations manager for Eastman Chemical Company, has agreed to join the City of Kingsport staff as human resources director.

DeCroes, a graduate of the University of Tennessee, has served in a number of capacities at Eastman, first joining the firm in Kingsport in the Treasurers Division. He also served as a human resource manager at Eastmans Columbia, South Carolina, operations for about a decade, in addition to stints in financial services, information technology, compensation, Eastman University, and SAP Human Resources.

We have the deepest, best educated staff in my nearly 30 year history with the City, City Manager Jeff Fleming said Friday. The level of professionalism we have achieved is essential to building an appealing community. With a deep talent pool, we ensure we have the human resources necessary to innovate, lower costs and increase efficiency in our service delivery to our citizens.

DeCroes relocated with Eastman back to Kingsport from Columbia in March 2011.‚  He is serving on the Amp Advisory Committee, HR Board for the United Way of Kingsport, the board for Keep Kingsport Beautiful and the executive board for Kingsport Chamber and served as 2014 Funfest Chairman.

He is married to Kim and father to two adult children, Olivia and Victoria, who both reside in South Carolina.

DeCroes will join the City staff on November 10, 2014.
