KINGSPORT ‚¬ Mayor Dennis Phillips and select members of the BMA and leadership staff will host three community listening posts in October, beginning on the morning of Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Perkins Restaurant in Colonial Heights.

The Board works very hard to make sure were hearing and addressing the concerns of our residents, Mayor Phillips said. This is another effort to make sure were as assessable as humanly possible to help meet the needs of our citizens, and hear any particular topics that may be specific to individual communities.

The Perkins listening post will begin at 8 a.m. and run until 9:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

Our City has expanded its boundaries tremendously in the past seven years, Phillips said. Its our job as the elected representatives of the people to make sure the voices of our residents are heard, and to help spread the word about our City and its services as well as what steps we are taking to strengthen our local economy.

Additional listening posts will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Fire Station 3 on Memorial Boulevard for the residents of Indian Springs and Fall Creek. That event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue through 7 p.m.

The third and final listening post for the residents of the Rock Springs area will be held Wednesday, October 29th, 2014 at Fire Station 7 off of Rock Springs Road, again from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

While we designed this series of listening posts to reach some of our outlying neighborhoods, I would encourage any City resident who wants to participate to come to any of these meetings where they would like to be heard, Phillips said.
