KINGSPORT ‚¬ As part of Kingsports ongoing sewer collection system rehabilitation process, about 1,400 feet of sewer line in the vicinity of Cimarron Drive, Skyland Circle and Skyland Drive will be rehabilitated in a project starting Monday, July 30, 2012 and running through mid-September.

Several methods of replacement will be used, including digging and replacement and pipe bursting, although all methods require some amount of excavation. In addition to replacing the main sewer line, laterals connecting to the main line will also be rehabilitated.

Kingsports contractor on this project, Portland Utilities, will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and work may occasionally stray beyond those normal hours.

All residents within the work area should be prepared for periods of limited ingress and egress. In particular, Cimarron Drive will see a majority of the sewer line construction, as well as Skyland Circle, and also impacting a portion of Skyland Drive.

As a result, residents and motorists accustomed to regularly using these roads should plan ahead and remember to use the utmost caution in work zones. For a map of the work zone, please refer to the PDF attachment to this email.

Sewer service should be continuous throughout the contract; however, there may be periods of limited sewer availability with advance notification. In all, Kingsport maintains and operates more than 500 miles of sewer collection system. For more information about project specifics, please call (423) 229-9454.
