Residents advised to seek shelter as tornado watch/thunderstorm warning extends through midnight Wednesday, April 27
At 9:18 the NWS in Morristown issued a tornado warning for extreme eastern Hawkins County, Sullivan County, and extreme north Washington County in East Tennessee. Virginia counties under the warning are Russell, Scott, Washington and the city of Bristol. The warning in scheduled to expire at 10 p.m.
At 9:15 p.m. Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Colonial Height in Kingsport. Radar shows the system moving northeast at 70 mph.
All of Northeast Tennessee is under a tornado watch / thunderstorm warning until midnight Wednesday. Residents are advised to seek shelter, stay indoors‚ and tune into the latest television, radio and internet broadcasts for storm updates throughout the night.
