SUBJECT: Would-Be Auto-Burglar Recorded in the Act

GENERAL NARRATIVE
On June 2, 2016 at approximately 10:00 PM, an unknown white male suspect attempted to burglarize a vehicle parked in the driveway of a Kingsport residence in the 2200 block of Lamont Street. The owner had mistakenly left his vehicle unlocked overnight.

The suspect unlawfully entered the vehicle and rummaged around the interior extensively; however, when he was unable to find anything to steal, he left empty-handed.

The incident was captured by home surveillance cameras, and photos taken from that footage have been included in this release. A clip of the actual video has been made available for viewing on the K.P.D. YouTube channel via the link below:
