On January 4, 2016 at approximately 6:30 PM, David D. Davis was arrested by Kingsport Police Department Detectives and booked into the Kingsport City Jail on the charges of:
1) Burglary (2 counts)
2) Attempted Burglary
3) Theft of Property over $1,000
4) Vandalism over $500
This arrest comes as the result of an ongoing investigation into multiple recent burglaries to businesses located at 1201 North Wilcox Drive in Kingsport. This building is shared by both Imperial Family Medicine and Pinney’s Pharmacy.
On September 25, 2015 at approximately 3:30 AM, a previously unidentified suspect made entry to Imperial Family Medicine via an unlocked window. After rummaging through several drawers, he forced entry into the neighboring Pinney’s Pharmacy. Once inside, he stole approximately $20,000 in prescription medications and fled the scene.
On January 1, 2016 at approximately 4:00 AM, a suspect attempted to burglarize the same building by shattering the glass in the front door, but he was ultimately unsuccessful at gaining entry and fled the scene.
During the course of the investigation, which included a review of surveillance video footage, David D. Davis was positively identified as the suspect in both cases. He lives within easy walking distance of the scene of these crimes. A search warrant was served at his residence resulting in the recovery of multiple pharmaceutical bottles (specific to Pinney’s Pharmacy), as well as burglary tools used and specific clothing worn during the commission of these crimes.
Mr. Davis was not home when Detectives arrived to execute the warrant; however, by sheer coincidence, he returned home during the service of the warrant wearing the same uniquely identifiable jacket that he was seen on video wearing during the January 2016 incident. Mr. Davis was promptly arrested.
Two additional burglaries were reported to this same structure on September 14, 2015 and December 13, 2015. K.P.D. Detectives are continuing to investigate these incidents with a focus on Mr. Davis as a probable suspect with additional charges likely pending.
Anyone with additional information regarding any of these burglaries is asked to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.
