NEWS RELEASE
SUBJECT: Metal Thief Arrested After Getting Truck Stuck in the Mud
DATE: November 6, 2014
GENERAL NARRATIVE
On November 6, 2014 at approximately 1:30 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to 2309 Brandon Lane in Kingsport in reference to a tip from an observant neighbor that an individual in a white pickup was stealing property from a barn.

Upon arrival, officers located Adam J. McClellan and the white pickup in question, which was now firmly stuck in the mud. Further investigation revealed that Mr. McClellan had come to this location without the owner’s consent with the intention of scavenging for scrap metal. He had located a large claw foot cast iron bathtub in the barn, and had attempted to drag it out of the barn and tow it up a grade in the field. In doing so, his pickup had lost traction and become stuck in the mud, thus preventing his getaway from the scene of the crime.

Mr. McClellan was promptly arrested for Theft over $500 and transported to the Kingsport City Jail.
