SUBJECT: Komen Race will Result in Temporary Road Closures this Sunday
DATE: October 2, 2014
This Sunday, October 5, 2014, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will take place in Kingsport. Fort Henry Drive will be closed from Midland Drive to Eastman Road beginning at 9:00 AM until Sunday evening following race events. Race festivities will kick off at Memorial Park at 11:00 AM.

At 3:00 PM, several additional road closures will temporarily go into effect. Segments of Fort Henry Drive, Sherwood Road, Konnarock Road, East Sevier Avenue, Midland Drive, Pineola Avenue, Lamont Street, and East Center Street will be closed for approximately one hour during the running of the 5K race.

Area motorists not planning on participating in this event should plan ahead and seek an alternate route to avoid congestion and delays. Motorists traveling in the vicinity of the race area are asked to exercise courtesy and patience, follow all detours, obey all traffic instructions, and keep a cautious eye out for pedestrians, cyclists, and slow moving vehicles.
