NEWS RELEASE
SUBJECT: K.P.D. Crash Reports Now Available Online
DATE: July 7, 2014
GENERAL NARRATIVE
Effective immediately, Kingsport Police Department crash reports will be available for download online. K.P.D. has recently partnered with PoliceReports.US to provide this service at no cost to the City of Kingsport. This service will offer citizens the convenient option of obtaining a copy of their crash report from home or work, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

PoliceReports.US distributes crash reports online for nearly 1000 law enforcement agencies nationwide. PoliceReports.US has estimated that K.P.D. will save over $36,000 per year in labor costs alone by utilizing this online distribution system, not to mention the savings of the additional costs associated with photocopying, printing, mailing, and/or faxing reports.

When a Kingsport Police Patrol Officer responds to a motor vehicle collision, he or she will issue a business card containing the incident number to those individuals involved in the crash. The card will also contain instructions on how to access a report. An individual can search PoliceReports.US for their report by utilizing the provided incident number or the date of their crash and their last name. There is a $5 fee to download each report.

The Kingsport Police Department’s page on PoliceReports.US can be reached via the K.P.D. Website at http://police.kingsporttn.gov/node/125 or directly at http://kingsportpdtn.policereports.us. Anyone having difficulty accessing their crash report may contact the K.P.D. Records Division at 423-229-9427, Monday through Friday, 7:00AM until 6:30PM, for assistance.
