SUBJECT: K.P.D. Attempting to Identify Female Suspect After Failed Shoplifting Attempt

GENERAL NARRATIVE
On May 20, 2015 at approximately 8:00 PM, a white female suspect attempted to steal over $500 in merchandise from Wal-Mart, located at 3200 Fort Henry Drive in Kingsport. A Wal-Mart loss prevention officer identified himself and attempted to detain her as she exited the store without paying for the merchandise; however, she was able to successfully evade capture. The stolen property, which included a pair of sunglasses and various consumables, was recovered.

A photograph of the suspect taken from video surveillance footage has been included in this release. Anyone who recognizes her is asked to contact Detectives in the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or call Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.
