NEWS RELEASE
SUBJECT: Detectives Attempting to Identify Man Who Went Shopping with Debit Card Stolen from Lost Wallet
DATE: May 3, 2016
CASE #: 16-008265
GENERAL NARRATIVE
On April 19, 2016 at approximately 5:00 PM, a woman accidentally left her wallet in a shopping cart in the parking lot of Food City, located at 1205 North Eastman Road in Kingsport, after loading her groceries into her car. She soon realized what she had done and promptly returned to the store, but her wallet had already been stolen. Among the items in her wallet was her debit card.

A few minutes later, an unknown white male suspect attempted to use this debit card to make a $57.82 purchase at the Shell gas station and convenience store, located at 3104 Memorial Boulevard. The suspect was captured on surveillance video during the transaction, and a photo taken from that footage has been included in this release. A clip from the actual footage has been made available for viewing on the K.P.D. YouTube channel via the link below:
