General Narrative |
K.P.D. Detectives have arrested two juveniles in a burglary and vandalism to Dobyns Bennett High School.
On October 17, 2013 at approximately 12:00 Midnight, two unknown white male suspects entered Dobyns Bennett High School, located at 1800 Legion Drive in Kingsport. The duo entered the school through a door in the “Little Theater” area of the campus that had inadvertently been left unsecured. Once inside, they vandalized the school be writing and drawing obscene graffiti on various walls and doors of the interior of the school. They caused approximately $1,000 damage by forcing open a locked commercial freezer in the cafeteria, only to steal some inexpensive ice cream that was stored inside. They also stole two cash boxes from the cafeteria area containing an undetermined amount of cash. These individuals were roaming freely about the inside of the school for approximately three hours, and left the building at approximately 3:00 AM on the other end of the facility. Shortly after an earlier press release was issued detailing the incident, K.P.D. was contacted by numerous citizens who helped identify and ultimately led Detectives to the two suspects in the crime. On Friday, October 18, 2013, two 16 year old white male juveniles were arrested and charged with burglary, theft, and vandalism, bringing speedy closure to this incident. The Kingsport Police Department wishes to thank these citizens for their assistance in closing this case in such a timely manner. For additional information, please contact: P.I.O. Thomas M.
