(UPDATE) The Kingsport Police Department arrested a suspect in a case of a stolen vehicle and the use of a stolen credit card when she returned to the scene of the crime.
Shortly after K.P.D. released surveillance video of the suspect on October 16, 2013, Detectives received confirmation from numerous law enforcement and non-law enforcement sources identifying Kristi Blizzard as the individual in question. Since that time Detectives have been on her trail attempting to apprehend her. On October 18, 2013 at approximately 11:30 PM, K.P.D. Detective Corporal Martin Taylor tracked her down at the scene of one of her earlier crimes at Wal-Mart, located at 2500 West Stone Drive in Kingsport. When K.P.D. Patrol Officers approached Ms. Blizzard inside the store, she was pushing a shopping cart full of merchandise, yet she had no means of paying for the merchandise in her possession. As Officer Bobby Lawson attempted to place Ms. Blizzard under arrest, she tried to pull away. When her initial escape effort proved unsuccessful, she began kicking Officer Lawson in the leg. She then escalated her assault on Officer Lawson by digging her fingernails into his leg. She was eventually brought under control and taken into custody. At the time of her arrest, Ms. Blizzard had in her possession three yellow tablets, identified as Clonazepam. She did not have a prescription for this medication. Based on her earlier crimes, Ms. Blizzard was charged with: 1) Theft Over $10,000 2) Theft Over $500 3) Identity Theft (5 Counts) 4) Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card (5 Counts) The additional charges that she accumulated during her arrest were: 1) Resisting Arrest 2) Assault on a Police Officer 3) Possession of a Schedule IV Drug (Clonazepam) At approximately the same time as her arrest, other officers located the stolen Hyundai abandoned on Jared Drive in Kingsport. It did not appear to have sustained any damage while in Ms. Blizzard’s possession. The following was previously released on October 16, 2013: K.P.D. is searching for at least one suspect in the theft of a motor vehicle and the use of a stolen debit card. Sometime during the early morning hours of October 16, 2013, a silver 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe four-door hatchback vehicle was stolen from a residence at 406 Roller Street in Kingsport. At the time of the theft, the vehicle was unlocked, and a spare key to the vehicle was inside the vehicle. Also inside the vehicle was the victim’s wallet containing, among other items, a debit card. On the same date at approximately 5:30 AM, the vehicle was driven to Wal-Mart, located at 2500 West Stone Drive in Kingsport. The stolen debit card was utilized by a female suspect to make multiple purchase transactions for a total of approximately $1,100 in merchandise. The suspect is described as a white female, possibly in her late 20s, with dark hair, and a slim build. A photo taken from surveillance video is included in this release.
