Detectives are investigating an armed robbery at Cash Express. On November 1, 2013 at approximately 3:35 PM, an armed robbery occurred at Cash Express, located at 4200 West Stone Drive in Kingsport. Two suspects approached the business on foot and entered the building through the front door. Both suspects were described as white males and both were dressed identically in red hooded sweatshirts, blue jeans, and white cotton gloves. Both were armed with what was described as silver colored handguns. There were two female clerks working at Cash Express at the time of the robbery. One of the employees was ordered to the floor at gunpoint and handcuffed. The other employee was instructed at gun point to hand over all of the money. The suspects then took one of the clerk’s car keys and fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash in her 2013 silver Chrysler 200 4-door sedan. The stolen car displayed TN license plate 306 TYD. A stock photo of a similar vehicle to the one that was stolen is included in this release. The stolen vehicle was recovered abandoned in Hawkins County approximately one hour after the robbery.
