General Narrative |
On July 16, 2013 at approximately 5:05 PM, Kingsport Police Department Patrol Officer Andy Goddard responded to a single vehicle traffic crash with injury on Lynn Garden Drive in the roadway in front of 896 Lynn Garden Drive. A 1992 Honda Accord (green in color) was southbound on Lynn Garden Drive in the outside lane, when for unknown reason, the vehicle left the right side of the roadway, jumped the curb, and struck a large wooden utility pole. The vehicle rebounded off the pole and came to rest facing south on Lynn Garden Drive in the center turn lane. The vehicle sustained heavy damage.
The driver and sole occupant, Bethany Nichole Forbes, was transported to an area hospital by Sullivan County E.M.S. with apparent non-life threatening injuries. During an inventory of the crashed vehicle, multiple prescription drugs as well as drug paraphernalia commonly associated with the use of illegal drugs, were located inside the vehicle. Further investigation led Officer Goddard to conclude that Forbes was under the influence of multiple substances that impaired her ability to operate her vehicle. Upon her release from the hospital later that evening, Forbes was arrested and transported to the Kingsport City Jail. Forbes was charged with: 1) Driving Under the Influence 2) Driving on a Revoked License 3) Possession of a Legend Drug Without a Prescription 4) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 5) Violation of Registration 6) Failure to Comply with the Financial Responsibility Law (No Insurance) For additional information, please contact: Ptl.
