A man has been seriously injured in a single motor vehicle traffic crash on West Stone Drive.
On August 23, 2013, at approximately 12:25 AM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to West Stone Drive, near the intersection of Donelson Drive, in reference to a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers located a 2003 Honda Civic off the roadway directly in front of Jackson Elementary School. For unknown reasons, the vehicle had run off of an embankment and had come to rest on the passenger’s side with the roof of the vehicle resting against a tree. The driver, later identified as Dustin Kaywood, had been partially ejected, but was still pinned inside the vehicle. Members of the Kingsport Fire Department and Sullivan County E.M.S. responded and were able to extricate Mr. Kaywood from the vehicle. Mr. Kaywood sustained serious injuries and was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment by Sullivan County E.M.S. This investigation is ongoing in an attempt to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. For additional information, please contact: Ptl. Josh Morgan K.P.D.
