General Narrative |
A Kingsport man has been arrested after making threats with a sword.
On February 1, 2014 at approximately 5:00 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to Pinecrest Apartments, located at 3929 Lynda Lane in Kingsport, in reference to a man making threats with a sword. Upon their arrival, officers spoke with Stephen C. Sweeney, who was visiting his girlfriend at the apartment complex. He stated that James Puckett, Jr. had approached him with a large sword and said, “I’m going to get you.” Mr. Sweeney said that Mr. Puckett then cursed him as he walked away, swinging the sword violently. It is unclear what prompted Mr. Puckett’s threats. The owner of the apartment complex arrived and instructed the officers that Mr. Puckett had been banned from the property approximately four months prior to this incident. Officers were able to locate Mr. Puckett about a block away at 3924 Bond Drive where he was taken into custody without incident. The sword was recovered at the same address. Mr. Puckett was charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespassing and confined in the Kingsport City Jail. For additional information, please contact: Thomas M.
