KPD e-Press Release: K.P.D. Offers New Online Personal Property Database to Kingsport Residents
General Narrative |
K.P.D. announces a new personal property database that is being made available to Kingsport residents.
The Kingsport Police Department subscribes to LeadsOnline, which is a technology service that helps law enforcement catch criminals, while helping businesses reduce the hassles of reporting. LeadsOnline also offers ReportIt, a personal property database available to citizens who reside within the jurisdiction of subscribing law enforcement agencies. ReportIt provides a system for maintaining secure records of personal property. Individuals may store serial numbers, item descriptions, pictures, and scans of receipts, so that items may be more easily identified in the event of theft or loss. This record may also come in handy when reporting any loss to an insurance provider. This service is offered free of charge and is private and completely secure. The information entered into the database is only accessible by the individual citizen by utilizing his or her own username and password. Should property be lost or stolen, the individual can print the information from any computer with internet access and give it to the investigating agency. The Kingsport Police Department fully endorses ReportIt and urges the citizens of Kingsport to take full advantage of this free service to assist in the speedy recovery and return of lost and stolen property.
