General Narrative |
The Kingsport Police Department is asking for assistance from the public in identifying a suspect in the felony theft of several antique pocket watches from a downtown business.
On July 26, 2013 at approximately 2:35 PM, an unknown suspect stole thirteen antique pocket watches from a locked display case inside P&J Antiques, located at 204 Broad Street in Downtown Kingsport. The pocket watches ranged in value from $275 to $2,200 each, with the total value of all of the watches being $11,075. Surveillance footage obtained from the store showed a white male walking around the store in a furtive manner. On several instances he stopped at the display case containing the watches and looked around to see if anyone else was nearby or otherwise observing him. Finally, he used some sort of tool that appeared to be hidden in his clothing to circumvent the padlock that secured the case. He then removed all of the pocket watches, concealed them on his person, and left the store with no effort to pay for the items. A photograph of the suspect, captured from surveillance video, is included in this release, but the actual video footage is available for viewing by media representatives if they so desire. Anyone who may know the identity and/or whereabouts of this suspect is asked to contact the K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division at 423-229-9429 or Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.
