The driver of the Acura in the fatal crash on September 14, 2013 on Fort Henry Drive near South Street has been positively identified.
The Kingsport Police Department has been notified by the Medical Examiner that the driver of the Acura in the fatal crash has been positively identified as Dena Marie Riddle, 43 years of age, of Kingsport. Her vehicle, formerly only referred to as a dark colored Acura, was a 2002 black Acura RSX 2 door coupe. Ms. Riddle was killed when the car she was driving at 104 miles per hour crossed the center lane and struck a Ford Expedition head on. Walter T. (Tony) Bellamy (58 years of age) was driving the Ford Expedition and was critically injured in the crash. He died three days later on September 17th when he succumbed to his injuries at Holston Valley Medical Center. Two of Mr. Bellamy’s family members were also seriously injured in that crash. K.P.D. Traffic Unit Crash Investigators are continuing to sort through statements from witnesses, friends, and family and are awaiting toxicology results before making a final determination as to what factor(s) may have contributed to the crash.
