Kingsport City Schools Proposed Textbooks Announced
KINGSPORT Tenn. -Before making a recommendation to the Kingsport Board of Education for adoption, Kingsport City Schools local textbook selecting commit for social studies K-12 is considering the following publishers:
The following textbooks will be displayed for elementary social studies courses:
- Grades K-5 publisher: American Legacy
- Grades 4-5 publisher: Gibbs Smith
The following textbooks will be displayed for middle school social studies courses:
- McGraw-Hill School Education LLC
- Pearson Education Inc. publishing as Prentice Hall
The following textbooks will be displayed for high school social studies courses:
- Cengage Learning
- Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
- McGraw-Hill School Education LLC
- Pearson Education Inc.
- Pearson Education Inc. publishing as Prentice Hall
The recommended textbooks will be on display for public viewing from February 27 – 28, 2014 located at Kingsport City Schools Administrative Support Center, 400 Clinchfield Street, Ste. 200, 2nd Floor – Heritage Room, downtown, Kingsport from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Final textbook recommendations will be made to the Kingsport Board of Education in March. The school board must approve the textbooks by vote at both the March and April meetings, as the final adoption(s) of school system textbooks is due in Nashville by mid-April.
