KATS celebrates 25 Years of the Americans with Disabilities Act
KINGSPORT – On June 1, 2015, the Kingsport Area Transit Service (KATS) will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act by offering half price Dial-A-Ride ticket books for $12.00 (24 tickets per book).
The 25th anniversary of is a time to reflect on a law that has made a hugely positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities in our country, said Candace Sherer, Civil Rights Program Administrator for KATS. Upon passage in 1995, Congress clearly stated its intent to ensure equality of opportunity, full participation, independent living, and economic self-sufficiency for individuals with disabilities.
KATS Dial-A-Ride ADA/65 is a curb-to-curb transportation service available to Kingsport residents who qualify.
We want to thank our current Dial-A-Ride customers through this promotion, as well as attract new riders who can benefit greatly from Dial-A-Ride service, Sherer said. This is definitely a situation where spending a little money up front will save a lot of money over time as these‚ tickets do not expire.
Tickets may be purchased at KATS downtown terminal, 109 Clay Street, or, if you are already an active customer, you may purchase tickets directly from your driver. Cash and checks are the only form of payment accepted. Drivers DO NOT carry cash and cannot make change.
