Free Solar Photovoltaic Technology Training Course Offered in Tri-Cities
KNOXVILLE ‚¬ Businesses or persons interested in learning the basics of Solar Installation and Photovoltaic (PV) Technology can now take advantage of a free five-day training course at the Kingsport Center for Higher Education (KCHE), 300 West Market Street, Kingsport.
The training, offered by The Tennessee Solar Institute (TSI), will begin January 30, 2012 and run through February 3. The training times are 8 am to 5 pm each day, with lunch provided.
The training course focuses on many different aspects of the Solar PV field, including:
• PV history and market developments
• Solar concepts and terminology
• Onsite PV system configurations and components
• PV safety

At the conclusion of the course, there is an entry-level Certificate of Knowledge exam, endorsed by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP, www.nabcep.org). NABCEP is the gold standard for PV and solar thermal installation certification and it offers certification and certificate programs to renewable energy professionals throughout North America.
Please note: a pre-screening exam is required for all registrants. Interested parties should contact their local TN Career Center, in advance of the Solar PV course, to take the Career Readiness Exam (CRC). Only individuals that earn a gold certificate on the CRC can register for the Solar PV training course. No exceptions!
