Fatal Crash at I-81/SR-126 Interchange in Kingsport

On April 16, 2022, shortly before 10:00 AM, the Kingsport Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash at the interchange of Interstate 81 and State Route 126 (exit 66) in Kingsport. This incident has resulted in serious injuries and fatalities. I-81 traffic has not been affected. SR-126 remains closed at the interchange for the time being; however, it should be reopening within the next hour or two. The associated investigation remains active and ongoing by the KPD Traffic Unit. A detailed news release will be issued at an appropriate point in the investigation.
