KINGSPORT – Students graduating from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 2013 earned over 3,300 college credits prior to graduation, according to a recently released report on credit attainment.
Students in the Class of 2013 earned a total of 3,328 college credits, with 182 students graduating having received credits for Advanced Placement coursework, Dual Enrollment, and/or Career/Technical Articulation Credit.‚ Over 40% (40.1%) of graduating students left D-B having earned college credits.
“These figures reflect two of the many benefits to attending Dobyns-Bennett High School,” said Kingsport City Schools Superintendent Dr. Lyle Ailshie.‚ “First, it represents the variety and high level of rigorous coursework that D-B students have available to them and the support that is in place to ensure they are successful.‚ It also represents the significant financial benefit available to families that attend city schools.‚ The fact that over 40% of KCS graduates will enter post-secondary education with college credits already earned will substantially lower college costs incurred by these students and families.”
On average, 2013 D-B graduates earning college credits received 18.3 credits per student.‚ 61 students from the Class of 2013 earned 20 or more college credits during high school. ‚ 21 students from the class earned 40 or more college credits, with 13 students earning over 50 college credits prior to graduation.
