Dinner benefitting Bays Mountain Park & Planetarium
KINGSPORT – If you are passionate about local bard and always looking for an adventure-there is a new bardie event coming to the Tri-Cities that promises to delight your palate. Southern Culture Cuisine is teaming up with Tastes of the Town Tours this fall to create a unique dining experience modeled after the underground supper clubs made popular in Charleston, SC, Asheville, NC as well as numerous other metropolitan areas.
The dinners will be prepared by a different local chef from the Tri-Cities each time and will be hosted in unconventional spots all over the region. The exact location will not be disclosed until a few days before the dinner to ticket holders only. The first two events were sold out successes, traveling to venues in Bristol and Abingdon. The third event will be held in Kingsport on Sunday, November 2nd.
Southern Culture Cuisines founder, Nathan Breeding, is a chef himself, and will be the featured chef for Novembers event. Originally from Abingdon, VA, Breeding was impressed by the underground dinners there put on by Guerilla Cuisine, and wanted to create similar experiences back home. We are bringing the love and passion for Southern hospitality from Charleston here to the barthills of Appalachia, explains Breeding. This is much more than just sitting down for dinner-its about community and bringing people together.
Having previously worked with Breeding when he was a chef in Abingdon, Tastes of the Tours operator, Sara Cardinale, was eager to partner on the dinners. Nathan always impressed the tour goers with his creativity in using local bard from the region, says Cardinale. Our tours have highlighted the experience of dining and community in a new format, so it makes perfect sense to help put this together.
Also, as part of each dining experience, attendees can expect live music as well as live art happenings. The previous two dinners have showcased local musicians and local artists, who have made a piece of art during the event, much to the delight of the crowd. The November dinner will feature Jessee Lewis from Motel Rodeo collaborating with Evie Andrus, local fiddle player from Johnson City, TN.
Adventurous eaters can expect an intimate dinner party atmosphere featuring local bard re-imagined in new ways. Each event features a 4-course meal and live music, limited to 60 diners. Part of the proceeds from the dinners will go to a non-profit of the chefs choice, with the November benefactor being the Bays Mountain Park Association.
