General Statement of Duties:




Under direct supervision oversees the Legion Pool and Splash pad
operations and activities, including supervising pool workers, general
maintenance tasks and swimming instruction.  Work schedule includes
nights, weekends and on call for special events and/or emergencies.

Examples of Work: (Illustrative Only)

  • Supervises all pool personnel and pool activities.-Coordinates pool operations and pool personnel work duties/schedules.
  • Coordinates and supervises all special activities (swim lessons, swim team, Fun Fest, etc.)
  • Maintains water quality controls.
  • Conduct periodic water safety and first aid training for pool staff.
  • Oversees operation of ticket sales/cash drawer and ensures sufficient cash on hand for daily operations of pool.
  • Prepares daily deposits.
  • Reports injuries and completes accident reports.
  • Monitors maintenance needs and reports information to the recreation staff.
  • Prepares daily and/or weekly reports as requested by departmental supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge of pool operations and associated health and safety
regulations; Knowledge of general Parks and Recreation operating
policies and procedures; Knowledge of general clerical/office support
practices and procedures; Knowledge of modern first aid techniques and
water safety; Skill in planning, organizing, and coordinating a variety
of pool activities and events; Skill in training and supervising staff;
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
with other city department staff and the general public; Skill in
performing basic facility maintenance and supervision; Skill in working
in an environment subject to limited direct supervision;

 

Acceptable Experience and Training:

High school diploma or GED plus 3 years related work experience to
include two years of supervisory experience; or any combination of
training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills
and abilities to perform the job. Current Red Cross certification in
lifesaving and WSI (Water Safety Instructor).


 

 

ADA REQUIREMENTS

 

Physical Requirements:

Task involves frequent walking, standing; some lifting and carrying
objects of moderate weight (12-20 lbs.) and occasional heavy weight
(100 lbs plus); and the operation of hand tools in which manipulative
skills and hand-eye coordination are important ingredients of safe
and/or productive operations.

 

Environmental Requirements:

Task will require occasional exposure to adverse environmental conditions (heat, rain, cold).

 

Sensory Requirements:

Task requires color perception and discrimination. Task requires sound
perception and discrimination. Task requires depth perception and
discrimination. Task requires visual perception and discrimination.
Task requires oral communications ability.
