City work crews will be making needed wastewater system repairs along Linville Street beginning Thursday, April 1 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and lasting 5-7 days. During this time, Linville Street will be closed between Springfield Avenue and Longview Street.

Motorists are urged to slow down, obey all Warnings, Road Closures and exercise caution while traveling in this area.

City work crews will be making sidewalk repairs along Fort Henry Drive starting on Monday, March 15 and lasting several weeks. For ease of school traffic, work will last from 8:30 a.m. — 1:30 p.m., and the work zone will be taken down each evening.

During this time, the right lane will be closed on the northbound and southbound side of Fort Henry Drive between Midland Drive and N. Eastman Road.

The City of Kingsport continues to make critical wastewater system repairs to the West Kingsport Pump Station and force main along Netherland Inn Road.  Part of the nearly $6 million project is to excavate, install and backfill a new, larger force main from the pump station at the Ridgefields Bridge to the Waste Water Treatment Plant on Industry Drive.

Beginning Monday, February 15 and running through Friday, March 5, the Greenbelt will be closed to East-West travel from the parking area at Boatyard Riverfront Park to west of the Ridgefields bridge. Areas of the Greenbelt to the east and west of this area will remain open for use.

Bicyclists, runners and walkers are urged to slow down, obey all Warnings, Detours and Path Closed signs, while also using extreme caution when traveling in this area.

[UPDATE 3/31/2020: Main Street will see periodic closings during the time AEP is installing poles. The closure is for the safety of motorists traveling through the area. Detour signs will be in place and each closure shouldn’t be longer than a day.]

 

Currently AEP is working to place poles that will allow the eventual removal of the pole line along the north side of Main St.  Beginning the week of March 1st the AEP work will move into the roadway on the south side of the road in the parking areas to erect the new transmission poles.  Traffic impacts are expected to be intermittent lane closures and flagging operations.  Access to all businesses will be maintained.  More information about the overall project can be found at:
