Just as the cold winter temperatures settle in, the Kingsport Aquatic Center is introducing a new, indoor attraction for all ages! The brand new, state-of-the-art AquaClimb is a climbing wall installed over the deepest part of the HMG Competition Pool. This new wall allows two climbers at a time to test their skills to see how high they can climb.
The AquaClimb wall was funded with money from the Visitor Enhancement Program, created from a percentage of the hotel/motel tax. The climbing wall joins the current indoor attractions at the Kingsport Aquatic Center including: a water slide, Aqua Run inflatable, diving boards and three indoor pools.
“We greatly appreciate the donation from the Visitor Enhancement Program. This feature will be placed in our HMG Competition pool. Which along with the AquaRun, which was purchased a year ago, continues to expand our fitness & recreation offerings,” says Assistant City Manager Chris McCartt.
“It’s our goal to continue adding more features such as this to continue to diversify the indoor facility. This new attraction will also help with birthday party rentals and private facility rentals. It adds not only a recreational element but also a fitness element,” adds McCartt.
