The Kingsport Police Department responded to a pharmacy robbery in progress and have the suspect in custody.
On October 29, 2013 at approximately 10:35 PM, K.P.D. Patrol Officers were dispatched to a robbery in progress at the pharmacy at Walgreens, located at 1420 West Stone Drive in Kingsport. Upon arrival, Officers Brian Taylor and Dennis Hickman observed the male suspect, later identified as Vincent Dennis, standing in front of the pharmacy counter inside the store. When Mr. Dennis saw the officers, he initially tried to evade them, but was quickly apprehended without incident. Detective Tommy Arnold responded and took charge of the investigation. He learned that Mr. Dennis had given the pharmacy personnel a hand-written note demanding Schedule II narcotics, which would indicate he was seeking to obtain commonly abused prescription opiate-based pain medications, such as Oxycodone, Oxycontin, or Morphine. When taken into custody, Mr. Dennis was in possession of a handgun; however, he neither displayed, nor threatened to use the weapon during the robbery. Mr. Dennis was charged with Robbery and confined in the Kingsport City Jail. For additional information, please contact: P.I.O. Thomas M. Patton K.P.D.
